TEHRAN – In a farewell ceremony on Monday former interior minister Mostafa Purmohammadi insisted on expert studies in making decisions.

He said Iran has good experts but “We don’t manage the country with an expert view.”
In an indirect reference to hasty decisions without enough study, he said, “It will not be late if a decision is taken in a three-day time but it will be a good and ripe.”
The former minister added hasty decisions are a “dangerous poison” for the country and therefore we should value expert studies.
The minister also pointed to the importance of transparency in making decisions, saying, “The country’s political and social system should be transparent. Managers should sit in glassy houses… and be predictable.”
“An innovative manager is a manager which has plans and is predictable and his decisions are taken in a glassy house.”
Some politicians have regarded Purmohammadi as the most capable minister in the cabinet and have expressed opposition against his ouster.
Majlis National Security and Foreign Policy Committee Chairman Alaeddin Borujerdi said on Monday that the Majlis was generally against replacing the interior minister.
Borujerdi added the president has the authority to make cabinet reshuffles.
However, the MP said Majlis didn’t have a “positive” view of this decision.
He said Pourmohammadi had a good cooperation with the Majlis and its committees.
Speaking to reporters, he said, “Pourmohammadi was recognized as capable minister in the Ahmadinejad cabinet.”
Wise and progressive-minded minister
Former supreme national security council chief Ali Larijani also called Purmohammadi a “wise and progressive-minded” person.
Purmohammadi had realistic approach toward the country’s affairs and his mind was filled with developing the country, Larijani stated.
Larijani said Interior Ministry is tasked with different responsibilities which are of “strategic” importance.
Police chief Esmaeil Ahmadi Moqadam also praised the performance of Pourmohammadi while in office.
Meanwhile, government spokesman Gholam-Hossein Elham said there will be no change in cabinet for the present time. Elham said the new interior minister will be introduced to parliament for vote of confidence within three months.
Caretaker interior minister
President Mahmud Ahmadinejad officially appointed Mahdi Hashemi as caretaker interior minister. Hashemi was deputy interior minister for development affairs.
Hashemi said he will delegate more power to governors so that they can “stand on their own feet”.
The caretaker minister said some issues need to be revised in the Interior Ministry.
“Law Enforcement Forces has achieved a distinguished status during the ministry of Purmohammadi,” Ahmadi Moqadam told reporters
